Aujourd'hui, l'article se penchera sur le rappeur BLUECHAN, ancien membre du groupe Nekton, que vous avez sûrement aperçu dans les deux premières saisons de l'émission coréenne "Show Me the Money" diffusée sur Mnet.
Cet artiste aux multiples facettes a debuté sa carrière solo en 2011 avec le single "The name is Blue Chan" après avoir partagé "It's Nu Begin". Il est de retour depuis quelques mois avec un nouveau single "Begin" composé par White Rain.
Firstly, can you introduce yourself and tell us the meaning of "Blue Chan" please?
" Enchanté. Je m'appelle ‘BLUECHAN’. Ay, French friends. Wassup~ !
Hello, I'm BLUECHAN, a Korean rap musician. I'm happy to meet my French fans here. The name BLUECHAN which means "deep riverbed", was made by adding my favorite color blue and the last syllable of my real name Chan. It means that it's hard to tell what I'm all about inside by just looking at me from the outside. "
How did you get started in music? What made you want to rap?
" I think it was when I was around 9 years old. I liked to dance and sing since I was young. As I kept dancing and singing, I realized that I was falling for one certain genre, which was black music, including Hiphop, R&B, New jack swing, and jazz. So I started thinking that I want to make music like that, and I met a friend who was a rapper when I was a freshman in highschool. That was the beginning of my music and my rap. It was the spring of 1999. "
What is your song writing process like?
Do you have a particular method or..?
" Usually I create one song be the complete one form, that's my routine. As a drawing process, first of all I sketch the blueprint and then draw a line finally I color on’em. I preferentially consider the specific part that from prologue to epilogue either or end including open side.
My own special way to make music is creating a room in my head. Straight think about a room and then put in assorted stuffs. Next, remove not suitable and then arrange embellish stuff finally I decorate that room. After all that room become a my song. "
Can you describe your song "The name is 'BLUECHAN'?
" Literally, that song describes all about me and my character. 20's. A grown up. Questions where I go to, where I came from. I do expression full story through looking back my all. For a while reflect upon past. I produce the song about "can I make my dream", "can I touch the success". I would like to speak about emotion which everybody can feel like where am I, where we move toward through my life.
There are two remarkable scenes in my music video which cover my mouth and my eyes. That means where I look, the actual place I live, basically I tryna represent separate between idea and reality. A conclusion appeared in the last part of lyric. ‘Falling down is get over fear, never forget to raise way to stand strong. "
Is there a personality with whom you like to collaborate?
" There are tons of artist who I want work together, including my favorite artist Eminem, The Roots, common Japanese musician ‘Re :plus’ and etc…I'd like cooperate with artists kind of Jazzy Mellow style. This story could be all night long, maybe. I want to meet and collaborate with French artists. I do expect hope so outbreak with French artist, after this interview. lol. "
What's your international influence? Do you know French rappers?
" International influence... I don't know exactly which part I personally feel. I know nothing but my fans who exist around the world expect my music. I recognized many people get interesting me and my music in Germany, Russia, Brazil including France.. I hope they will give me a chance to perform there and meet them directly.
Of course I know French Rapper. When I was high school student, I’ve been impressed after watching the video clip ‘Sully sefil - J’voulais’ on Korea local TV. Then I enjoyed that song. "
How do you feel on stage?
" Best moment I’ve ever felt before, I can't explain it with words. How can I tell that feeling? In a manner of speaking, kind of chilling with my whole friends who visit me in my room as much as to told ‘Song’.
Everybody look up me and listen carefully my telling, after slowly absorbed in my stagea background become the white then there is nothing on’em. After all people's 'look' appear clearly, not expression, just 'look' inch by inch. That’s the really happy time to me, when I can see that. "
Since one year, you didn't release a new song and a new mv, right ? What's your project for 2013? Do you think to release an album?
I appeared local cable TV show named 'Show me the Money' that organized tournament systemin 2012 summer. Unfortunately I drop off early so can't show my potential in spite of what program name is ‘show my something.’
I had some plans to making song and release album in 2012.
But i failed to impress myself due to my expected value problems, and after a disappointing stint with expectation become desire. it isn't good enough for me, that’s the reason why I’d drop out my works.
And now I’m getting over some problems and preparing. I will a lot of plans to show my songs in 2013, you guys live in France can expect my news and my music~!!
What is the meaning of 'Begin' and how did you work on this new song ?
" 'Bluechan X White Rain - Begin'. It's a new single released worldwide on April 22. This song is about name called as ‘Begin’. The beginning of the day, the beginning of the season, the beginning of all things. In addition to that, the end is always connected to start.
Therefore, we sing the story that something always still started to.
When it comes to making this song, start with Jazz Hiphop. I’d like play out Jazz HipHop from a long time ago, so looking for the right producer.
And then I met a friend, also known as 'White Rain'. We’ve been creating for quite some time and finally release 'Begin'the title song of the first World Wide album include my rap. As like the title, it does mean ‘Our Start’. In the future, I’ll prepare a lot of song to let you hear with 'White Rain'. Please look forward to the career of the 'Bluechan X White Rain'. "
Can you say something for your French fans?
" So nice to meet you French fans, that's a big honor to me. I hope people who don't know me get interest in my character and my music works through this interview. I haven’t had a chance to go there to meet you yet. Someday I’d like just go visit France and have opportunity that will show off my songs through my performance. Pour commencer, peux-tu te présenter et nous expliquer la signification de « Blue Chan » ?
"Enchanté. Je m'appelle BLUECHAN' Salut amis français, comment allez-vous ?!~ Bonjour, je suis Bluechan, un musicien/rappeur coréen. Je suis heureux de rencontrer mes fans français ici. Le nom Bluechan signifie « rivière profonde », et a été créé en combinant ma couleur préférée, le bleu, et la dernière syllabe de mon vrai nom qui est Chan. Cela signifie qu'il est difficile de dire qui je suis à l'intérieur juste en me regardant."
Comment as-tu commencé la musique ?
Qu'est ce qui t'a donné l'envie de faire du rap ?
"Je pense que c'était quand j'étais à peu près âgé de 9 ans. J'aimais déjà danser et chanter même si j'étais jeune. Alors que je continuais à danser et chanter, j'ai commencé à réaliser que j'étais en train d'être attiré par un genre en particulier, qui était la « Black music », incluant le HipHop, R&B, New Jack Swing et le Jazz. J'ai commencé à me dire que je voulais faire ce genre de musique, puis j'ai rencontré un ami qui était rappeur lorsque j'étais en première année de lycée, ce fut alors le commencement de ma musique et de mon rap. C'était durant l'été 1999."
Quel est ton processus de création/composition?
As-tu une méthode particulière ou…?
"Généralement quand je crée une musique je me dis « soit une forme complète, c'est mon habitude " Il s'agit du même processus que lorsqu'on dessine. Je fais tout d'abord l'esquisse, ensuite je re-dessine les lignes au propre pour finalement les colorer. De préférence, je me concentre sur une partie spécifique, du prologue à l'épilogue ou à la fin.
Ma particularité dans la façon de composer est que je crée une pièce dans ma tête. Penser fortement à cette pièce et y mettre tout un assortiment de choses. Ensuite, enlever ce qui ne va pas, puis arranger et embellir ces choses pour finalement décorer la pièce. Après toute cette pièce devient mon morceau."
Peux-tu nous décrire ta chanson "the name is BLUE CHAN" ?
"Littéralement, ce morceau décrit qui je suis et mon caractère. Dans la vingtaine, en tant qu’adulte, je me pose des questions telles que "Où je vais", "D'où je viens". J’exprime de longues histoires en me détachant du superflu. Pendant un certain temps, j’ai réfléchi sur le passé. Je produis des sons à propos de : " Est-ce que je pourrais réaliser mon rêve ?" "Est-ce que je peux toucher du doigt le succès ? ". J'aimerais parler d'émotions que tout le monde peut ressentir, comme "Où suis-je ?" ou "Où nous dirigeons nous dans la vie ?".
Il y a deux scènes mémorables dans mon clip dans lesquelles on m'a couvert la bouche et les yeux. Cela veut dire que dès que je regarde l'endroit actuel où je vis j'essaye de représenter une ligne de séparation entre l'idée et la réalité. Dans les paroles, on peut apercevoir une conclusion 'Tomber, c'est surmonter la peur, ne jamais oublier de se relever pour rester fort."
Y a-t-il des personnalités avec qui tu aimerais travailler ?
"Il y a de nombreux artistes avec qui j'aimerais travailler, incluant mes artistes favoris: Eminem, The Roots, l'artiste japonais "Re:plus" etc... J'aimerais collaborer avec des artistes qui ont un « Jazzy Mellow Style ». Cette histoire peut probablement durer toute la nuit. Je veux rencontrer des artistes français et collaborer avec eux. J'espère commencer à travailler avec un artiste français après cette interview. lol."
Quelles sont tes influences internationales?
Est-ce que tu connais des rappeurs français ?
"Des influences internationales… Je n’en ai pas vraiment. Je sais juste qu’il y a des fans dans le Monde entier qui attendent beaucoup de ma musique. J’ai appris qu’un nombre important de personnes s’intéressent à moi et ma musique, en Allemagne, en Russie, au Brésil, en France aussi.. J’espère avoir l’opportunité d’y organiser un concert et de rencontrer mes fans directement.
Bien sûr que je connais des rappeurs français. Quand j’étais étudiant, j’étais impressionné après avoir regardé le MV, sur une chaîne coréenne locale, de Sully Sefil – « J’voulais ». Depuis j’adore cette chanson."
Comment te sens-tu sur scène?
"C’est le meilleur moment de ma vie, je ne peux l’expliquer avec des mots. Comment je pourrais vous expliquer ce sentiment ? Pour parler franchement, c’est un peu comme me détendre avec tous mes potes qui me rendraient visite. Tout le monde me regarde et écoute attentivement mes paroles, puis ils sont tous absorbés par ma scène, comme si nous ne formions qu’un.
Je les regarde ensuite un par un. C’est vraiment un moment extraordinaire pour moi, lorsque je peux voir ça."
Depuis une année, vous n'avez pas sorti de nouvelle chansons ni de clip, pas vrai? Quels sont donc tes projets pour 2013 ? Penses-tu à créer un album ?
"J'ai fait une apparition dans un show Tv d'une chaîne câblée locale 'Show me the Money' qui a organisé un concours durant l'été 2012. Malheureusement, j'ai été recalé trop tôt. De ce fait, je n'ai pas pu montrer l'étendue de mon talent comme dans le programme Tv 'Show my something'.
J'avais le projet de faire quelques titres et sortir un album en 2012 mais j'ai échoué car j'attendais trop de moi. Depuis ce malheureux incident, j'ai vraiment le désir de le faire. Ce n'était pas assez bon pour moi, c'est la raison pour laquelle j'ai laissé tomber.
Mais maintenant je suis en train de résoudre certains soucis et je me prépare. J'ai prévu de sortir de nouvelles chansons pour 2013 ! Vous qui vivez en France, j'espère que vous allez prendre de mes nouvelles et que vous attendrez ma musique avec impatience~ !!"
Que signifie "Begin" et comment as-tu travaillé sur cette chanson ?
"Il s'agit d'un nouveau single qui est sorti le 22 avril. Cette chanson se nomme "Begin". Le début d'une journée, le début d'une saison, le commencement de toutes choses. De plus, la fin est toujours connectée au début. Alors nous chantons l'histoire de quelque chose qui a déjà démarré. Quand on a commencé à écrire la chanson, nous avons "démarré" avec du jazz hiphop. J'ai voulu faire ressortir le jazz hiphop depuis longtemps donc j'ai cherché le bon producteur.
Et puis j'ai rencontré un ami qui est également connu sous le nom de "White Rain". Nous avons pris du temps pour créer et nous avons sorti la chanson titre "Begin" qui est présente dans le premier album international.
Le titre signifie "Notre départ". Dans l'avenir je préparerais un grand nombre de chansons pour vous laisser entendre "White Rain". S'il vous plait, réjouissez vous de la carrière de "Bluechan x White Rain"
Peux-tu laisser un message à tes fans français ?
"Fans français, je suis enchanté de vous rencontrer ! C'est un réel honneur pour moi. J'espère que les personnes qui ne me connaissent pas seront intéressées par mon personnage et ma musique à travers cette interview ! Je n'ai jamais eu l'occasion de vous rencontrer mais j'espère qu'un jour je pourrai visiter la France et, ainsi avoir l'opportunité de vous faire découvrir mes chansons sur scène.
